It would be not hard to make an IV facebook application that contains
- an install page,
- a page where our core issues can be listed and members can express support for each issue
- a page where running issues can be listed and members can sign petitions online (see capital fraternal caucus app as they push their greek related issues via Patton Boggs in Washington)
- and optionally a facebook bolstered discussion board.
The newsfeed feature/invite friends should help viral spread of the app.
A member suggested that it maybe a good idea to have IV presence on facebook. This will help increase our publicity among our friends whom we can recommend to join. Our aim is to get as much publicity and membership at this time so that we can succeed in our upcoming campaigns.

Here is something we really should watch closely. US senate race in Massachusetts between Democrat Coakley and Republican Brown. They are fighting for the vacant seat of Hon. Late Senator Ted Kennedy. Now, people would think, why a race in mass. matter? It's a completely blue state, and had no republican senator in last 40 yrs, obviously a democrat would win. The election is on tuesday and the ground reality seems to suggest something else.
This seat is crucial for President and Democrats as it is the much coveted 60th seat in the senate to get a filabuster-proof majority which democrats have enjoyed so far. It is critical for healthcare reform as well as for immigration reform (if at all it comes).
The gap between both the candidates was narrow with democrat leading but today, for the first time, polls indicate that Brown has taken lead over Coakley. People in this blue state seem to increasingly support Brown, mainly frustrated because of healthcare policies. Mass residents already have a healthcare related tax to help run state's universal health care. On top of that, federal health overall would be adding more taxes on people and people fear that they will end paying both. Already, mass is a very high tax state. 1st time prevailing wage was OK (lower than the salary). This time during extension, prevailing wage is more that the salary, though salary increases over the time. So employer is telling they r not able to renew H1B, because it is hard to increase the salary due to the inequity among employers. What is the solution? Thanks

My understanding is that you can transfer existing H1B. I am not a lawyer.If you have a copy of your H1B approval notice, you should be able to transfer to your new company. However, if you may have to visit US consulate back in your home country for Visa. You may want to double check with immigration gurus.

I entered US on H1 and the officer stamped the I-94 expiry date to the expiry date of the passport. I applied for a new passport but forgot about the I-94 expiry date. Does it mean that my H1B is expired and not valid? Can I re-enter US on the same H1B visa. Or, my H1B is no longer valid and I have to use AP?
Please let me know.
When did your I94 expired?
Even though it expired and if you are having a EAD you are legal.
Your H1B visa is still valid. If you want you can reenter using the same H1B Visa.
All you need is to extend your stay. I think you can do it by contacting CBP office in your area.

I worked with company A for 6 months and then transferred H1B to new company B with whom I worked for 1.5 years. Meanwhile company A did not cancel my H1B and now when I am thinking of joining company A. Can we use older H1B petition. Is it ok to use older H1B petition or should we cancel older H1B on file and file new H1B transfer?

Hello,
I am working with A on h1b and the visa expires on May 1st 2010.
Recently I got another offer with B and they filed my h1b transfer (regular).
The offer they gave me verbally is different from what's on the offer letter, when I contacted them there insist that they never "promised" , so I did not want to take that offer now.
Can I now ask employer A to file the extension and continue working with A?. Will that create any issues if the transfer with B gets Approved/rejected?. or is there any alternate?. Please help.

There is nothing like H1 transfer. Each petition is separate. Company B filing H1 does not invalidate your H1 from Company A. Your original H1 will still be valid even if H1 from company B is approved/denied. You can just continue working with company A and file extension when its due...

My second 140 may be approved by this month end.. Neb-Nov. 08-filing... i am hoping i will be able to port my PD..to 12-05

I entered US with a tourist visa in California. Months later, I got married to a US citizen in Austin,Texas. Me and my husband were apprehensive at first to get an immigration lawyer to process my visa but we realized the process of obtaining a visa was not as straight forward as we thought.
We have since decided to hire a lawyer and have met with two attorneys so far. The process is frustrating because of the requirement to pay a consultation fee; we schedule an appointment, meet, and find out that the cost of hiring the lawyer is far greater than what we can afford.
My question is: does anyone know of a good lawyer who charges a reasonable flat fee? $1000 - $1500?
