hmmm my dad has had problems with them too before we got cable but now those problems are over and i'm really happy to have wifi all over the house with broadband.....the odd thing about AOl tech support and billing is that its in India...apparently its cheaper to pay all those longdistance fees and teach a group decent english than to pay american workers and american taxes....

    Here's some 6750 benchmarks: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6750M.43958.0.html

Most of those are the 2011 MacBook Pros I believe, your iMac should perform a bit better if it has a 6770 512MB if running at 1080p. I can't be sure about the performance at 1440p but if you were worried about it you could wait a few more days, maybe a week, to look at some benchmarks.

    Enjoy your machine!

And have they done this for HP yet? Got a 5850 wi-fi printer that according to HP's site is no longer supported for drivers.

Shame :( - it is a great printer under OS 10.5, but I need to get a new MacBook soon, and I want double sided printing!

Wow, it's nice of Apple to provide a little explanation there!
Does this mean they might change the appearance more drastically later, instead of just re-enabling Graphite?

It could mean that, or it could mean they just haven't updated the graphite versions of the buttons/loading bars/etc yet. I would love to see them offer more color options, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being just blue and graphite again. :o

Is it true you actually have to launch Launchpad first, then find your app and click it open? if so, how is that an improvement? By the time you perform those steps, you could have typed the app name into Spotlight, or opened the app folder in the dock.

Maybe there's a way to have Launchpad open upon startup of your machine by default, then just click open app icons from there, much in the same way Windows users have icons pinned to their desktops?

Looking forward to WWDC in a month when we should get a better idea of what Lion is really going to be like.

Partitioned my internal HD. No way I would have beta as my only OS and externals are slow, especially since I only have USB ones. To be honest, I haven't booted into SL after installing Lion.

Maybe colorful pants just look bad... :p

And don't go for those matching shirt and pants outfits - that might even be worse....but part of your observation might have something with the fact that fashion seems to want to stress the face and not the lower half. It might be a double standard since there are plenty of flashy womens' pants and such.....

Googles translation of what I think you all are talking about:

I met many people yesterday, and I listened much.

although nothing still is official, it seems that APPLE is directed towards AMD to replace G4.
One spoke again me of Jaguar under X86.
In any event it seems that APPLE is directed towards a solution preventing any possibility of installing Mac OS X on a PC.

    (I don't know French :o)

From that I get no new information, just more pondering. The last line gives me the impression that the writer does not believe that Apple is going to go toward the x86 platform for OSX.

Anyway, did not Steve say himself that there will be faster versions of the current models next year? and that the G4 still has alot of life? His comments certainly don't point towards x86 in Apple systems, at least not for along time to come.

I think we should let this subject die for awhile (like the Apple PDA rumors) and wait for more tangible proof and/or information concerning the x86/Marklar rumor.

How about someone get a screenshot of "about this mac" with Athlon instead of G4 in it? Or maybe something less easily photoshopped, like a motherboard with Socket A connections and an Apple logo next to it ;).

Lately my stomach has been making funny noises when ever 'marklar' related info is talked about... I guess I'll go to Costco and get some Pepto-Bismol so I can keep reading :D.

I need to buy a monitor for a powerbook and saw a few companies selling new, in the box 17" Apple Studio Displays online. The price is about $450. I have always loved the look of that monitor, but am wondering how well they stack up with today's monitors. In addition, I believe for the same price I could get 19" - so I am torn. Any advice?

where did you find it?? im looking for one...

i have the rebel. It is a nice case with good accessories like a screen protector, but all the other stuff is not the best. When the case is laying on the table it wobbles making it hard to play games while taking notes in class... Anyways, it takes a while to get used to the grooves on the back but when you do, it feels normal. I dont have the other case, but i really like the rebel over all. It is quite protective too. I dropped it off of a desk onto hard floor and there was no damage to my ipod.

I mean, yeah, but it's not worth worrying about. Maybe if you reformat 10 times a day...but how many times are you really going to do it...

You could argue that opening and closing your Macintosh HD could create more wear and tear on the HD than letting it sit.

On the iMac, you can replace the HD though, so if worst comes to worst, and it's out of warranty, you can just but a new one.
